Oakmont bakery is a beautiful building filled with decadent sweet treats. I tried a smattering of options, but did not get any coffee or breakfast sandwiches, which seemed popular amongst the Sunday morning crowd when I visited. I picked up a pack of day old bagels, which were a good deal. Obviously, these would be better fresh, but I wanted to test it out. The cupcakes, of which I got the Oakmonter (brownie on cheesecake), Carmine (caramel), and Peanut Butter Me Up. The cupcakes are $3.50 each, which felt reasonable given the size and decorations on top. The cake itself was delicious as were the icings which were smooth and full of flavor. I’d probably pass on the Oakmonter as it felt rather basic and didn’t have the flavors I was going for. The eclair was filled with a sumptuous custard that I could have eaten by the spoonful. The pastry itself was okay, but certainly not as light and flaky as I’ve had before. On the whole, I will be back, but narrowing my focus to the cakes and cupcakes, which seem to be the specialty!
