Wow! What can I say. I spent $11 on a Carne Asada burrito that was stuffed with beans, rice, pico de gallo, cilantro, carne asada, and cheese. It was WAY bigger than any Chipotle I’ve had in the last five years. There were options for other proteins as well as a California that included avocado. I made two meals out of my burrito. The food was seasoned wonderfully and very tasty, as you’d expect from a roadside stand in California. I also was able to order a cookie as the location is a bakery as well. They had many cakes in addition to the cookies that I did not try. The cookie, unfortunately, was hard (my preference is for soft cookies) and seemed to have been baked a few days prior. Notwithstanding, this is not the reason to come to La Mexicana. My friends tried tamales, pupusas and tacos, with limited complaints. I will say given the price point that the meat can be a bit more fatty in texture, but easy to overcome given the taste and the volume overall. This is on my return list when you need a large volume of food that is still delicious. It’s not gourmet, but is sure tasty.
